The AKC Mastiff Dog is not to be confused with any other Mastiff-Type Breed of canine.

Neo's, Fila's, Cane Corso's, Presa's are all different from our Majestic Breed, that the AKC and the Mastiff Club of America calls MASTIFF, sometimes referred to as English Mastiff.

Our breed standard names our breed as follows: A combination of grandeur and good nature, courage and docility. Dignity, rather than gaiety, is the Mastiff's correct demeanor.

The other breeds were bred to be harder dogs and quicker dogs, for one reason or another. I will not bash the other breeds, as the owners and breeders that are doing right by their breed deserve the respect that not all dog breeders are CROOKS, or otherwise.

The people that owned MASTIFF'S are looking for a large GENTLE CANINE, and not a vicious canine. Our breed, the MASTIFF, is a deterrent because of size alone.

The public should be made aware that the press should get all of the facts before going to print. Reputations and businesses have been destroyed because of bad media, because the PUBLIC, if ignorant will believe what is put in their face and never take the time to look or dig deeper. We look deeper because we own the breed, and we love the breed, so we take it personal.

The recent attack on the young lady named Diane Whipple of San Francisco is one example of how poor dog ownership can end in a tragedy.

The MASTIFF community morns Diane's death, and we sympathize with her family and friends, because we feel their pain. But we feel it even harder as our breed is being attacked, where it clearly is unwarranted.

I hope that all who read this understand that Dog Owners, regardless of breed, are responsible for what happens to each generation of canines. That is why it is so very important for each breeder to make sure they are breeding dogs with correct temperament and rendering incapable of reproduction, those that do not meet the BREED STANDARD.
